Selecting a Brush to Groom Your Dog
A Good Brush

Are you confused about what grooming tool to use on your pet? Just like there are many different dog breeds, there are many products to choose from; combs, rakes, dematting tools and brushes in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

For many pet dogs, a really good SLICKER type brush and a metal comb are the best place to start. Slicker brushes have short, bent wire bristles that work well to remove tangles and dead coat. Brush from the skin out to the tips of the hair. Spend extra time working on areas that are prone to friction; where the legs meet the body, where the collar rubs on the neck, etc. Follow up your brushing by drawing the comb through the coat to check for tangles. Ask your professional groomer to help you choose which grooming tool is best for your special pet. – Daryl Conner
