About the Cardinal Crystal Awards

Every year at the International Grooming Show, Intergroom, Cardinal Laboratories announces the winners of the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards.

Established in 1988 to recognize and publicize the outstanding achievements of dog groomers, grooming judges and grooming journalists, and to promote professionalism in the grooming industry, the Cardinal Crystal Awards are the benchmark of success in the grooming industry.

Crystals at a Glance

The solid crystal obelisk presented to the winners is 12 inches. The Cardinal Crystal Awards provide a vehicle for grooming industry members to recognize the exceptional accomplishments of their peers. Nominations are made by professional groomers on the basis of strict criteria of excellence for each category: American Groomer of the Year; International Groomer of the Year; Grooming Contest Judge of the Year; Outstanding Grooming Journalist of the Year; The David G. Salzberg Award and the Congeniality Award..

About the David G. Salzberg Award This award was named after the late David Salzberg, who, with his wife Kathy Salzberg, ran the Village Groomer in Walpole, MA for over 20 years. A tireless supporter of the grooming profession, Salzberg is remembered for his generous spirit, willingness to help other groomers and uncanny rapport with animals.
