About Diana Mohler

Diana Mohler began grooming in 1972 in Newport R.I. when her family was stationed there by the Navy. She quickly decided it was the purr-fect carreer for both her creative talents and her busy on-the-move family. Grooming allowed her to take her business along with every Navy transfer and she spent the next 27 years as a professional groomer.

Mohler soon found that most grooming customers were family pets, not Show Dogs, and she became an advocate for pet grooming that allowed her client's lifestyle, not the breed standards, to determine the correct style for their dog. Believing that grooming can make a major difference in the quality of a dog's life (clean dogs live in the house with the family, dirty dogs remain on the outside looking in) she set about simplifying her client's grooming routines to make their pet easy to care for.

While a member of the Southern California Professional Groomer's Association, Mohler was appointed editor of the monthly newsletter and used her writing talents to help unite the divergent organization membership through continuing education.

In 1999 Mohler sold her grooming shop in Carson, CA and signed on for the next 4 years as Coordinator for the World Wide Pet Industry's annual Grooming Contest at the Trade Show, Superzoo. Her grooming column appeared monthly in Pet Product News and her articles have been featured in Dog Fancy, Dogs For Kids, Pet Age, Groom and Board, and Groomer To Groomer magazines. She is a two time winner of the Cardinal Crystal Achievement Award for Journalism. Through her writing she reamins an advocate for both pets and the families that love them.

Mohler is also the coauthor of two children's books, "How Willy Got His Wheels" (Selected Children's Book of the Year by the National Dog Writer's Association) and ----- --. Both books deal with the story of a handicapped dog that helps children identify with the issues and challenges of being physically disadvantaged.
